Kirsten Degner - Founder of Studio 947


Growing up surrounded by lush forests, rugged coastline and endless ocean, has moulded the design style and passion of Studio 947's founder, Kirsten Degner (maiden name: Huettner).


Always having a deep love for the art and design world, Kirsten attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology Interior Design Program. Upon completing her certificate, she immediately began her career as an award-winning multi-faceted design house, SmartDesign Group (formerly known as Sunderland Innerspace Design Inc.) located in Vancouver, British Columba, Canada.


In 2001, Kirsten decided to steer her design career from interior, to Graphic Design, within SDG, after being awarded first prize in the nation AAFCS Art and Design Showcase Competition. Since this time, Kirsten has gone on to win the 2006 IDI Award of Excellence for the 'Real Food Company' at Luton International Airport, UK, as well as, the juried design competition for the Woodwards Condominiums in Vancouver, BC. Up until 2006, Kirsten was the Senior Graphic Designer / Art Director for SmartDesign Group, where she designed functional graphics for companies such as Wild Oats Marketplace, Landis Hotels, Capers Community Markets, and many other interior spaces around the globe.


Kirsten resides full-time on beautiful Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada, with her wonderful husband, Geoff, her beautiful sun, Logan, her crazy dog Maple, and her two kitties, Ringo and Lucy. Besides Graphic Design, Kirsten has a great passion for creating multi-media art pieces, as well as, sewing and designing original creations.
